This is a Rawlings model G500 baseball glove, for an adult Left Hand Thrower. Roy Smalley was a shortstop in the NL from the late 40s through the 1950s (as well as being the father of later day Twin and Yankee Roy Smalley, Jr.). The glove dates from the very early 1950s, and is featured as a midline model in the Rawlings catalogs from 1950-52. It is probably one of the last split finger models made by Rawlings. The Obvious: The glove is missing the webbing. The leather thongs broke and I had the web for years hoping to get it fixed. Eventually, the webbing was lost. Perhaps someone out there has a web that needs a glove…? The 'signature' and manufacturer's stampings are very worn in the palm. The stitching is intact and strong. The wriststrap button has the Rawlings 'shield' logo, and the patch is in good condition. The name of the previous owner (my dad) is faintly visible on the outside strap of the glove. The interior is still soft, some light cracking on the heel cracking. Although it has seen strong use, the glove itself is in fairly good condition.
