It had caught the attention of commentators bt February of that year who described it as "full dinnerware embossed with apples, leaves, and branches following the edge line and hand decorated under glaze in russet, green, and brown."By the summer of 1940, new pieces were being added to the Apple pattern….expanding the line was continued testimonial to the success. Apple earthenware was proving so popular that soon glassware was being created to compliment it.Apple continued to be made by the Wedge wood group after closing the Franciscan production facility in Los Angeles in 1984. English Franciscan Apple will be back stamped "Made in England".
