This is a Brand new LG WH16NS40 firmware version 1.02 that came from the factory with firmware 1.04 or 1.05 depending on date of manufacture, and service code NS50. With 1.04 or 1.05 installed, these drives are not able to read a 4K disc, developed in an effort to further the anti-piracy movement. I have changed the firmware to the last, most stable version that makes the NS50 drives capable of reading 4K UHD discs – version 1.02. I’m a computer programmer, I have expertise in this field for more than 20 years. I expanded my business globally to serve excellent service and quality for my customers all over the world! Please note that this is the real LG firmware drive that are 100% suitable with your PC Be aware of the fake LG firmware drive sellers claiming their UHD friendly, they will have limited function and stability when connecting to PC This drive will function as a regular WH16NS40 would. What makes my drive special is additionally it will READ a 4K disc, guaranteed. 4K was developed around anti-piracy, so PLAYING a 4K disc on your PC has a huge list of requirements. This is only one piece of the 4K chain. I CANNOT guarantee you will be able to plug this in and play a 4K disc on your PC. It will, however, READ a 4K disc.
